Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway has appealed the kin of any missing persons to go to AIIMS Bhubaneswar only for body identification as all the dead bodies of the railway accident victims are kept there. While officially 288 passengers have been declared as dead in the incident, 205 of the dead bodies have been handed over to their relatives. The identity of the remaining 83 dead passengers has not yet been made. As the bodies were kept in different hospitals till yesterday, the relatives were facing many problems in identifying them. So the authorities have decided to keep the dead bodies at only one place at AIIMS Bhubaneswar so that it will be easier to contacting the hospital.
The 83 unidentified dead bodies have been preserved in special containers at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar and relatives of accident victims can go there to identify them. The authorities have also started DNA testing facility at AIIMS to identify the dead bodies.
