Puri: The chariot construction work for annual Puri Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings – Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra is going on in full swing here.
Following the approval of the Central Government, the construction of the three chariots Nandighosh of Lord Jagannath, Taladhwaj of Lord Balabhadra and Debadala of Devi Subhadra is underway inside Ratha Khala, in front of the Jagannath temple office and Sri Nahar palace.
Before the start of the work this morning, as many as 143 servitors engaged in the construction of chariots for the Holy Trinity had gone for health screening. All servitors are keeping well.
The servitors have been accommodated at Bhakta Niwas and are being provided with food there. From there, they are taken to Ratha Khala in a bus every day, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said.
The construction work is being carried out following the social distancing measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Of the total 42 ‘Tumba’ and Bindha’ work, 39 tumba and bindha work has been completed, sources said.
