Berhampur: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Gosaninuagaon Jagannath Temple, one of the famous temples of Lord Jagannath in Ganjam district, has decided not to hold the annual Rath Yatra of the Holy Trinity this year.
Hereditary Trustee of the temple, Panchannana Choudhry wrote a letter to Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange about it.
“Due to restriction imposed by the Odisha Government as well as District Administration for COVID-19 pandemic, this year Rath Yatra cannot be held as before as social distancing norms cannot be followed strictly”, the letter reads.
However, the rituals of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be conducted inside the temple premises in order to maintain the temple customs, it added.
Earlier, the Ganjam administration has imposed complete lockdown in the entire district till June 30 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
