Bhubaneswar: In one of the biggest cash seizures, the Odisha Vigilance has unearthed cash worth around Rs 2 crore from the house of Bhanjanagar minor irrigation assistant engineer, Kartikeswar Roul.
The Vigilance sleuths seized the cash from the house of Kalpana Pradhan, second wife of Roul, at Tata Ariana flat in Bhubaneswar during ongoing searches against the assistant engineer.
Besides, 20 gold buiscuits weighing approx 580 gms was also recovered, the Vigilance said.
Roul has come under the scanner of Vigilance for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets to his known source of income.
Earlier, a team of Odisha Vigilance led by 5 DSPs, 11 Inspectors and other staff conducted simultaneous house searches linked with the engineer.
On the strength of search warrants issued by Spl. Judge Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, the anti-corruption officials raided Kartikeswar Roul’s six places in Khordha and Ganjam districts.
The searches were carried out at Roul’s residential quarter located at irrigation colony, Bhanjanagar; office at Bhanjanagar; Flat no. B-1, Tusti Apartment, meridean College lane, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar; Flat no. A-073,Cosmpolis Residency , Bhubaneswar; three storyed building over plot no. 1045/2978 at Jagamara, Khandagiri,Bhubaneswar and parental house at Langaleswar, Khallikote in Ganjam district.
