Puri: Son of Late Pradeep Maharathy, Rudra Pratap Maharathy has filed the nomination papers for Pipili by-elections today on Biju Janata Dal ticket.
The elections for Pipili will be held on the 17th of this month. The seat was left vacant following the sad demise of Pipili strongman Pradeem Maharathy. Pradeep was a seven time MLA from Pipili.
Rudra Pratap filed his nomination papers at the ADM Office Puri in the presence of several party leaders including MP Pinaki Mishra, Minister Samir Ranjan Das, Pranab Balabantray, Byomkesh Ray and others.
Earlier in the day, Rudra was taken to Puri in large procession accompanied by hundreds of supporters.
Speaking to media after filling his nomination papers, Rudra said “I thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for keeping faith on me and giving me the chance to fight the by-electios. My father’s blessings are with me. I have full faith that the people of Pipili will also bless me to serve them and we will win definitely. My father was with the people of Pipili and I will also be with them.”
