Sambalpur: A notorious criminal, who was wanted in 41 cases with nine pending warrants, was arrested by the sleuths of Sambalpur Police.
Tima alias Dhaneswar Jhankar (37) of Rasanpur, PS Sadar, Sambalpur was involved in a series of robbery and property offence cases in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Jajpur, Maurbhanj districts in the last eight years, the police said.
The interstate criminal, who was absconding since 2019, was arrested by Sambalpur police in an operation which went for three months conducted by three special teams.
As per police, Tima never stays in his own house and frequently changing his hideout to elude police arrest. Most of the time, he was staying in the forest and hiding his motor cycle at a distance of about 2 km. away from his hideout. He used to spend his night in the trees by making shed on the trees. He used to change his mobile as well as SIM cards so that police cannot follow him by technical surveillance. He has also kept 10 to 15 street dogs by the side of his house to alert him regarding arrival of any outsider near his house.
The police team formed three layer cordon by the side of his hideout to apprehend him with help of special squad and DVF team. During the operational period of two months a police team camped at Jamankira area. The police nabbed him along with three associates.
The police also seized four motor cycles, 10 mobile phones, three looted tablets,one sharp cutting knife, cash of Rs 4000, two looted ATM from the possession of Tima and his associates.
