New Delhi: Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Jajpur Sarmistha Sethi has raised the issue of non-release of MPLADS funds by the Center thereby hampering many developmental works in her constituency. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Sarmistha said the MPLADS account of her predecessor is yet to be closed due to non receipt of funds from the Government of India. The works recommended by her predecessor could not be completed as work orders could not be released due to non availability of funds.
The Government of India had decided not to operate the MPLADS during the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22 due to the Covid Pandemic and placed the funds at the disposal of the ministry of finance. But in November last year, it had restored the funds to give a push to rural economy.
Sarmistha has said that many developmental works are pending in her constituency as the money has not been released by the Center despite restoration of the MPLADS. The pending funds of her predecessor are causing delays in execution of works in the rural areas. She demanded that the Center immediately intervene and release the funds so hat developmental works can be taken up.
