Bhubaneswar: President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Savitri Ratho as the judge of Orissa High Court.
A notification has been issued by the Union Law Ministry in this regard.
“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Miss Savitri Ratho, to be a Judge of the Orissa High Court with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office,” the notification said.
With this appointment, the number of women judges in Orissa High Court increased to three. Other two judges are Justice Amiya Kumari Padhi and Justice Sanju Panda.
At present, there are 15 judges in Orissa High Court. The number will go to 16 after Ratho takes oath.
Earlier in January, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended for Ratho’s elevation as Judge of the Orissa High Court.
