Kolkata: Sujay Krishna Bhadra, a prime accused in multi-crore school recruitment case, on Friday submitted bail application at the Calcutta High Court to undergo bypass surgery at any private hospital in Kolkata.
Bhadra, is currently under treatment at state-run SSKM Medical College & Hospital in south Kolkata after a stent was implanted in him.
He had earlier applied to a lower court for the same permission, which was denied and the lower court ordered that Bhadra’s treatment will continue at SSKM.
On Friday, Bhadra’s counsel moved a petition at Calcutta High Court challenging the decision of the lower court.
Incidentally, Bhadra’s application at the Calcutta High Court comes on the same day when Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a chargesheet against him at a special court of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Bhadra in the matter.
Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of Calcutta High Court has admitted the petition by Bhadra’s counsel. Already the process of conducting Bhadra’s voice sample test by the central agency has been delayed following his hospitalisation.
He was recently released on parole to perform the last rituals of his wife who passed away recently. He came to the Presidency Central Correctional Home recently with the completion of his parole period and on the same day he had to be admitted to the hospital.
ED sleuths have claimed that Bhadra acted as the main link between former state education minister and Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee and expelled youth Trinamool Congress leader Kuntal Ghosh, both of whom are in judicial custody currently for their alleged involvement in the school job case.
