Shoaib Malik Announces Retirement from ODIs

 

New Delhi:  Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik announced his retirement from One-day International cricket on Friday.

The announcement came soon after Pakistan ended their 2019 World Cup campaign at the Lord’s in London.

“Today I retire from One Day International cricket. Huge Thank you to all the players I have played with, coaches I have trained under, family, friends, media, and sponsors. Most importantly my fans, I love you all,” Malik wrote in his tweet after his team’s match against Bangladesh.

The veteran all-rounder played 287 ODIs where he scored 7,534 runs at an average of 34.55 along with nine centuries and 44 half-centuries.

The 37-year-old took 158 wickets with the best figures of 4/19 in ODIs.
Pakistan could not qualify for the semis even after beating Bangladesh by 94 runs in their final league game.
