Berhampur: Gopalpur beach festival, one of the most popular tourist attractions of Ganjam district and the State, has been successfully completed recently. And with dawn of the New Year, the hockey fever is on the high in the State and Berhampur is not an exception.
Silk City Fest is going to be organized in Berhampur with cultural, sports, entertainment and talent shows. In addition, in view of the Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held in the State, a grand hockey festival will also be organized simultaneously in the Silk City.
To make the two mega events successful, Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) and Ganjam district administration are intensifying the preparatory works.
The residents of Silk City are eagerly waiting for the opportunity to participate in the city festival after the gap of two years.
The elected representatives, district admin officials and police department are working hard to ensure the Silk City Fest and hockey festival a grand success and memorable for all.
Silk City Fest 2023 will feature Bolloywood stars, renowned local artists and star sportspersons.
Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu, MLA Bikaram Panda, BeMC Mayor Sanghamitra Dalaei, Deputy Mayor E. Vivek Reddy, Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida, Zilla Parishad CDO Keerthi Vasan V, BeMC Commissioner J. Sonal, Berhampur Sub-Collector Kulkarni Ashutosh C, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M and other officials have held review meetings regarding the organization of the both the festivals, which will be held in parallel at the same stage.
Silk City Fest is the festival of art, literature, sports and entertainment. In addition to Hockey celebration, the audience can also enjoy the Pallishri mela, book fair, food stalls etc. All will be involved in the Hockey World Cup celebrations on January 11. Various sports, cycle races, marathons etc. programs will be organized as part of the hockey celebrations. Various committees have been formed for the celebrations of Hockey World Cup. Similarly, Silk City Fest will kick-start from January 13 at UCP Engineering School ground. Keeping in view of large gathering of people, necessary arraignments are being made by the BeMC and district administration.
