Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Thursday sought the cooperation of all to sensitize on decent dress for devotees visiting the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri.
SJTA Chief Administrator Ranjan Kumar Das wrote a letter to presidents and secretaries of all Nijogs in this regard.
Even though, there is no prescribed dress code, men may wear traditional clothes such as pant, shirt, dhoti, chudidar-punjabi and women may wear formal cloths like saree, salwar kameez to create a devotional atmosphere and convey the spirit of spiritual devotion, the letter stated.
“Since you have been propagating the culture and mahima of Lord Jagannath since time immemorial and the devotees from far away get the opportunity to see the Lord through you, you will train and sensitize the devotees coming from outside in this spirit”, the SJTA Chief Administrator said.
In particular, awareness should be made that loose pants, ripped jeans, unnecessary body exposure, or any clothing that offends religious or religious sentiments is prohibited.
Efforts should be made to create awareness at every level and steps can be taken to strictly implement it from next New Year, he added.
