Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government will form a special team to probe into the tragic bus mishap that took place at Taptapani Ghat of Ganjam district this morning.
Informing this, State Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera said that a proper investigation will be done to find out under what circumstances the bus fell off the bridge leading to the loss of lives and leaving several injured.
A special team will be formed to probe into the mishap. The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) would verify the documents of the vehicle, he said.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the death of passengers in the tragic incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the family of the deceased and free treatment for the injured.
As many as eight persons were killed and 40 others sustained injuries after a bus carrying them skidded off a bridge near Palukhola in Taptapani Ghat of Ganjam district in the wee hours today.
