Cuttack: As a part of celebration of 75th year of the High Court of Orissa, Sports Meet of the employees of the High Court has been held.
The Sports Meet involved various events such as cricket, badminton, carom, chess and musical chair. The league matches of the indoor games were played on 10th and 11th December, 2022 at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Cuttack while the cricket tournament was
held from 24th to 27th December, 2022 at Sunshine Field, Cuttack. On 8th January, 2023, the closing Ceremony of High Court of Orissa Sports Meet, 2022-23 was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
In the closing ceremony the finales of Badminton Men’s and Women’s singles, Carom and Chess as well as Musical Chair were played in presence of
Chief Justice Dr. S. Muralidhar and the Judges of the High Court of Orissa. The employees performed cultural programmes during the ceremony.
While employees of different age groups participated in different events with enthusiasm, the cheers of employees and their family members in the audience
in pavilions of the Indoor stadium perfectly set the tone of the ceremony.
The team of Assistant Section Officers became the winner of the cricket tournament beating their counterparts of the Central Issue Section of the High
Court. Bimal Kumar Sethi and Miss Anisha Sahu were the winners in Badminton Men’s and Women’s singles while Debasish Pattanaik and Satyabati Hial became the runners up. In Carrom, Sumit Ghadai and Ajay Lenka were winner and runners up respectively. Biswojit Panda was winner and Subash Sethy was runners up in the Chess Competition. Puja Roy
and Lopamudra Mohanty were winner and runners up respectively in the Music Chair event.
The Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court of Orissa as well as former Judges of the High Court of Orissa were present in the event to encourage the
finalists and participants of different games. The Winners and runners up of various events were given trophies and certificates by the Chief Justice and Judges of the Court.
The enthusiasm of the employees was on full display during the Sports Meet which is first of its kind for the High Court of Orissa.
