Pune: Spread Happiness Foundation, a Pune-based NGO, has come forward to provide food to stranded Odia workers in the city in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown.
The Foundation has distributed cooked food to more than 400 families for six days from April 5 to April 10 with the support of local members from Odisha and Maharashtra agents.
It has also arranged essential grocery items for the needy families, whose livelihoods have been impacted by the corona pandemic situation.
“The COVID-19 has shaken countries all over the world and brought the concept of social distancing. Due to the immediate and extended lockdown, we are at home and away from others. But sadly, there are people in our country away from home and depends upon the daily wages. They are really struggling for food and managing with only one meal a day due to lack of the essential grocery and food items”, Spread Happiness Foundation said.
The Foundation said that it is making all possible efforts to reach out to the poor at this unprecedented moment of distress.
