Bhubaneswar: Odisha Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena today held a review meeting with the senior officials of the Water Resources Department and others on the prevailing flood situation in the state.
It is expected that the peak of the Mahanadi water flow at Khairmal will be by this midnight and at Munduli by tomorrow afternoon. At Munduli, the water flow will be around 11 lakh Cusecs. Khairmal may have a plateaued peak at less than 5 lakh cusecs.
The Upstream Inflow into the Hirakud reservoir is expected to reduce by tomorrow to less than five lakh cusecs. Any decision on further opening of gates at the Hirakud Dam will be taken after evaluation by the Engineer in Chief and other senior engineers of the Water Resources Department.
In a tweet, the SRC said field staff are on alert in the night. Piping in three places being managed. One breach has been reported in Kani river in Jajpur District.
