Puri: More than 3000 earthen lamps have been lit around Meghanada Pacheri of Lord Jagannath temple on Monday as part of the shilanyas ceremony of the Srimandir Parikrama Yojana.
According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), more than 4000 diyas will be lit up tomorrow.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will perform the bhoomi pujan of the ambitious Jagannath Heritage Corridor project in the pilgrim city on November 24.
Ahead of the bhoomi pujan ceremony, a three-day long yajna began outside the 12th century shrine from Sunday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the foundation stone for the ambitious heritage corridor project and perform the Purna Ahuti of the yajna.
The Jagannath Heritage Corridor project, which is a part of the “ABADHA” (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme, aims at transforming Puri into a World Class heritage City.
Being implemented at a cost of nearly Rs 800 crore within a 75-metre radius of the Srimandir, the heritage corridor project envisages the development of mutts, a Shree Jagannath reception centre, amenities for devotees and enhanced security for the shrine.
