Cuttack: The Odisha State Transport Authority (STA) has allowed new vehicle registration in the RTOs of Sundargarh, Rourkela, Nuapada and Gajapati.
The decision came after the State Government has allowed opening of vehicle showrooms in Sundargarh, Nuapada and Gajapati districts from June 1.
The Office of Transport Commissioner has issued a letter to the Regional Transport Officers of Sundargarh, Rourkela, Nuapada and Gajapati in this regard on Monday.
As per the order issued by the SRC on May 30, all types of shops excluding malls, market complex, weekly hats, salons, barber shop, spa, beauty parlour etc. shall remain open in Sundargarh, Nuapada and Gajapati districts from 7.00 AM to 1.00 PM on week days (Monday to Friday). In this context, automobile dealers may open their show room coming under your jurisdiction, the STA said in the letter.
The STA has asked the four RTOs to allow the dealers to have access to VAHAN portal for registration of new motor vehicles from June 1 until further orders.
However, in other districts, vehicle showrooms are not allowed to open on account of lockdown, hence no registration of new vehicles.
