State Honour to Be Accorded to Late Surjya Narayan Patro

Bhubaneswar: A State Honour will be accorded to former Assembly Speaker late Surjya Narayan Patro, who passed away on Saturday.

This has been informed by the Home Department.

“Dr. Surjya Narayan Patro, Member of Odisha Legislative Assembly and former Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly, passed away on 2.9.2033 at 7.31 PM in SUM ULTIMATE Hospital, Bhubaneswar. It has been decided by the Government of Odisha that as a mark of respect State Honour will be accorded to the departed soul”, the Home Department said.

Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida and Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M will pay homage to the mortal remains of Patro on behalf of the State Government.

The State Honour will be arranged by Berhampur SP during the funeral at Digapahandi in Ganjam district.

Earlier this morning, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid his last respects to Surjya Narayan Patro. The CM also met the family members of the departed leader and expressed his deep condolences.
