STF Nabs Wildlife Criminal, Seizes Leopard and Deer Skins in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police seized three leopard skins and three deer skins in Kalahandi district and arrested a wildlife criminal in this connection.

The accused person has been identified as Khageswar Putel (56) of Pujiladu village within M. Rampur PS, of Kalahandi District.

A team of STF conducted a raid on Friday evening at Sripali Chhaka on M.Rampur-Narla, SH-6A, regarding dealing/possession of wildlife products and caught a wildlife criminal.

The accused person could not produce any authority in support of possession of the prohibited items for which he has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court of JMFC, M Rampur, the STF said.

In this connection, the STF has registered a case under Sections 379/411/120(B) of the IPC and Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

The seized items will be send to Director WII, Derhadun for biological examination. Further investigation is on, the STF added.
