Subarnapur: Suresh Kumar Panigrahi, Civil Supplies Officer (CSO), Subarnapur was arrested in a disproportionate assets case.
Based on searches conducted on properties of the CSO, he was found in possession of disproportionate assets including 2 buildings, 1 Farmhouse spread over 4 acres of land with 500 teak trees, 19 plots including 3 in BBSR, 4 in Sambalpur, 1 in Bolangir, and 11 in Bargarh district, deposits over Rs.1.72 Crore, cash Rs.1.49 lakhs, etc, which he could not explain satisfactorily.
Following this, Panigrahi has been placed under arrest by Odisha Vigilance and will be forwarded today to the court for possession of disproportionate assets.
Earlier, simultaneous house searches were conducted by the Vigilance sleuths led by 2 Addl. SPs, 3 DSPs, 7 Inspectors, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by the Ld. Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir at the 11 places linked to the CSO in Bhubaneswar, Bolangir, Subarnapur, and Bargarh.
The places were – Residential house of Panigrahi at Tulasi Nagar, Bolangir town; his office chamber at Subarnapur; his paternal house at his native place at village. Balanda, Bijepur, Dist- Bargarh; rented flat No. 7BD, 2nd Tower at Mani Tribhuban, Patia, Bhubaneswar; rented house of Panigrahi at Sonepur Town; house of his relative at Tulasi Nagar, Bolangir; rented house of his relative at Flat No. 418, 5th Tower, Royal Lagoon, Patia, Bhubaneswar; house of his cousin at Gangadhar Sahi, Bargarh; his fly ash bricks factory and Farm land at village- Balanda, Bijepur, Bargarh; Sidheswari Petrol Pump in the name of his cousin at Pahandi, Bijepur, Bargarh and house of his another relative at village- Balanda, Bijepur, Dist- Bargarh.
