Bhubaneswar: The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital has inaugurated the Preventive and Therapeutic Clinical Trial Unit (PTCTU) under its Department of Community Medicine on Monday to carry out human clinical trials of the potential coronavirus vaccine ‘COVAXIN’.
The trial for the India’s first indigenous vaccine is expected to begin at the PTCTU from Wednesday, according to reports.
The IMS and SUM Hospital, a part of the Bhubaneswar-based SOA Deemed to be University, is one of the 12 medical institutes in the country selected by the ICMR to conduct the human clinical trial of COVAXIN.
The AIIMS, Delhi has started the human trials of the vaccine from today.
