Rourkela: As many as 5,949 patients have been benefitted from bike ambulance service ‘Swasthya Rakshak’ in Sundargarh district.
With an aim to provide emergency health services in remote areas, the Sundargarh district administration had launched the bike ambulance service in December 2022.
The bike ambulance goes to the remotest of localities and ferry patients to the nearest hospital or health centre.
“Swasthya Rakshyak’ Bike Ambulance transports patients from their home to nearest Govt health centre & back. 3 Ambulances each are stationed at Gurundia, Koira & Rajgangpur blocks catering to patients at hard to reach areas. 5,949 beneficiaries touched between Dec 2020-Oct 2022”, Sundargarh Collector Dr. Gavali Parag Harshad informed.

The bike ambulance service is being offered in Rajgangpur, Koira and Gurundia blocks in the first phase.
The district administration has decided to cover other blocks under the initiative in a phased manner to enable people living in inaccessible areas to get timely treatment in Government hospitals.
