Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote cultivation and consumption of millet in the state, the district administrations of Sudargarh and Gajapati have launched a massive awareness drive.
Street play and recipe competition were held to disseminate information on nutritional values of millets to both farmers and consumers at in Lephripara block in Sundargarh district.
The participants and farmers were taught how to make different kinds of recipes and snacks using millets.
Currently, the food crop is being cultivated in asa many as eight blocks in Sundargarh district.
Similarly, in order to make farmers aware of the nuances of cultivating millets, a ‘Sachetan Rath’ was flagged off on Friday from Ramanaguda block.
The millet mission has not only augmented the income of the farmers but also addressed the issue of malnutrition in the State.
The programme has bought tangible changes in the Gajapati district.
