Sundargarh: In a bid to add more nutritional value in the diet among the people, the Sundargarh district administration has set a target to produce 4000 quintal of millets under the Odisha Millet Mission (OMM) in the current fiscal year.
Last year millet production in the district was 1500 quintals.
The district administration has also decided to provide four Ragi Lodoos to each anganwadi students to add more nutritional value in their diet in the district.
Meanwhile, the district administration has launched a massive awareness drive to promote millet production and its use among farmers in Hemgiri, Balisankara, Tangarpalli and Lefripada Blockes, which have been included in the Odisha Millet Mission recently.
On the occasion, district Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan flagged off the specially designed ‘Awareness Rath’.
“As many as eight blocks of Sundergarh district have been included in the OMM. Efforts are on to bring all the districts under OMM fold as the farmers are showing interest in millet cultivation , ” said Nikhil Pawan Kalyan.
“Ragi Ladoos will also be provided to the anganwadi students in their mid day meal”, he added.
