New Delhi: In a significant development, the Supreme Court today asked the central government to put on hold the implementation of controversial farm laws saying the situation had gone worse.
“Tell us whether you will put the laws on hold or else we will do it. What’s the ego here?”, the apex court said.
The bench comprising of CJI Bobde Bobde and Justices A S Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian said, “Some people have committed suicide, old people and women are a part of the agitation. What is happening?”
Notably, the talks between the Centre and farmer unions on the controversial new farm laws failed to make any results as both are adamants to their stand.
The Centre and the farmer leaders are scheduled to hold their next meeting on January 15.
