Bhubaneswar: Controversial Godman Surendranath Mishra, well known as Sura Baba of Trahi Achyuta Ashram, has breathed his last yesterday night. He was under treatment in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for the last few months.
The chief of Achyuta Ashram, controversial godman Sura Baba was in news in August 2015 for encroachment of government land for which he was arrested and sent to jail. He was released from the jail in 2017 on the directions of the Supreme Court. The Enforcement Directorate had investigated into the financial dealings of the Baba and found properties worth more than Six Crore.
In another case, the Balipatana Police arrested Sura Baba and his two sons for allegedly exploiting women and criminal intimidation.
