Swachh Survekshan 2021: Hinjilicut Leads in Cleanliness

Berhampur: The Swachh Survekshan 2021 survey report brought by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has placed Hinjilicut at the top position in the state in the below 25 thousand population category. Hinjilicut Municipality in Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s own constituency remains to be the cleanest municipality in Odisha in this category.

Situated amidst the lush green hills and river Ghoda Hada, Hinjili today has become an example for all the municipalities of the state for maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene. The achievement is an outcome of the combined efforts of the administration, municipal authorities and above all the people of Hinjilicut. The authorities have a taken a number of steps in the last few years to keep the city beautiful, clean and hygienic. The setting up of public toilets and community toilets in bastis has totally eliminated open defecation there by securing the ODF PlusPlus Category for the municipality. Distribution of dustbins to every household has resulted in minimizing the spread of garbage in open places. Garbage collection vehicles of the Municipal Corporation are engaged in the collection of garbage from every household systematically.

The Municipality has also set up Micro Composting Center and Material Recovery Facility in its jurisdiction to systematically manage and recycle the garbage collected. The organic compost from the MCCs are being used in fertilizing the plants. In order to avoid inconvenience to people, the Hinjili Municipality has undertaken night sweeping of roads and streets.

The people of Hinjilicut have wholeheartedly supported the cleanliness drive and involved themselves in making the city clean and green. Traders and shop keepers are keeping the five meters radius of their shops clean. The ban on use of polythene is being implemented vigorously.
It is pertinent to mention here that Hinjilicut Municipality is ranked at the 9th position in the Eastern India in the below 25 thousand population category. It secured 3414 points in the Swachh Survekshan 2021. In the all India level, Hinjili is at the 110 position in this category. In the overall category level natinally, Hinjili stood at the 404th position. Hinjilikatu Bikash Mancha president Pramod Kumar Panda, former Chairman Sibaram Gauda, Lawers Association Former President Rama Chandra Mahapatra and BJD President Bhimsen Behera have congratulated the Municipality, its officials and the people of Hinjili for this achievement. Hinjili has been in forefront in various developmental activities be it cleanliness, beautification or women empowerment. The clothes center managed by women, state of the art indoor stadium and the modern bus terminal are some of the examples that prove the developments achieved in Hinjili.
