Bhubaneswar: Servitors from Taratarini temple today felicitated Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the development package.
A group of thirty servitors met the Chief Minister at his residence Naveen Niwas and thanked him profusely for his devotion and development of Taratarini.
According to Bapuji Rana, chief servitor of Taratarini Temple, who also met the Chief Minister, “The package will further help develop the various pilgrim amenities of the centuries old shrine, and once the works are complete, it will attract more and more pilgrims”.
“We are very happy that the Chief Minister and 5T Secretary visited the shrine and now they have given the package,” he added.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had on Wednesday approved the redevelopment plan of Taratarini Temple that included renovation of Singhadwara and putting up more pilgrim amenities and a pathway with drinking water facilities. Also, on the hilltop there will be landscape development, construction of a Prasad Sevan Mandap, an interpretation centre, Mundan hall and public toilet. A view point at the hill is also proposed in the development plan.
Taratarini Temple, the presiding deity of south Odisha districts, is situated near Berhampur in Ganjam district. It is one of the oldest Shakti Pithas of India.
With such overall development of the shrine, this historic and cultural site will also be a centre of cultural tourism attracting people from within and outside Odisha.
