Berhampur: Situated on the hilltop of Kumari Hills on the banks of river Rushikulya, the ancient Taratarini temple is an epitome of tranquility and spirituality. The lush green surroundings and the peaceful environment double the fulfillment of the pilgrims visiting the shrine. It is one of the most revered pilgrimages in south Odisha and an important tourist destination in the state.
With the development package announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the tourism potential of this Shakti Pitha will get a boost. As per the decision, renovation of the Singhadwar Entrance along with Pilgrim Amenities, Pathway with drinking water facilities, Hilltop temple premises development works will be carried out. Also, Prasad Sevan Mandap, Interpretation Centre, Mundan Hall and Public Toilets will also be constructed on the hilltop.
These infrastructures will provide pilgrims better darshan experience and ultimately lead to more and more footfalls. The local people dependent on the shrine will also get the benefits of this and the economic condition of nearby villages will prove substantially.
Releasing a video of the proposed redevelopment works and how the temple will be after completion of the works, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the renovated temple will enhance the dignity of the place.
