New Delhi: As part of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, Central Public Works Department (CPWD) had opened financial bids for the new Parliament building construction on September 16. “The Tata Projects Limited won the contract for construction of the new Parliament building with the lowest bid of Rs 861.90 crore, while Larsen and Toubro Ltd quoted Rs 865 crore,” officials said.
In August, three construction firms – Larsen & Toubro, Tata Projects and Shapoorji Pallonji & Company had qualified for submission of financial bid for the contract to build a new Parliament building. A total of seven firms had submitted pre-qualification bids for the construction of the new Parliament building of Central Vista Redevelopment Project.
According to the CPWD, the new building will come up at plot no 118 of Parliament House Estate, close to the existing one.
The work is expected to be completed in 21 months. The new triangular Parliament building will have seating capacity for 900 to 1,200 MPs, which is targeted to be constructed by August 2022 when the country will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day.
