Hyderabad: In what could be the best example of cooperation between states during these difficult times of pandemic, Telangana has received about 200 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen in the last two days.
This has come a blessing for the many government hospitals in the state that were gasping for Oxygen supplies amidst the surge in Covid-19 cases.
While the Telangana government made all efforts to transport the empty Oxygen tankers to Odisha, the later swiftly made arrangements for the loading and transport of the same. Odisha government formed a special cell under a senior officer to look onto the issue and coordinate the movement of Oxygen from the state. Dedicated escort service was provided by the Odisha police for unhindered movement of the tankers.
While Telangana has been allocated 80 tonnes of oxygen from Odisha, the swift action by both the governments helped situation normalize and at present the state has a stock of oxygen for about 7 days. The Oxygen tankers reached Hyderabad where they will be supplied to the major government and private hospitals. Some tankers are being sent to other districts.
