Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal’s Jiban Bindu programme got an overwhelming response across the State.
The programme organised by the BJD workers on the occasion of 73rd birth day of party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik saw collection of record 12,325 units of blood in a single day.
Blood donation camps were organised at 59 places across the State under the Jiban Bindu programme.
Naveen, who did not celebrate his birthday today in view of the devastation caused by cyclone Fani early May this year, visited the Jiban Bindu camp at the party’s state office here and encourage the donors to join the campaign for a social cause.
Jiban Bindu programme, which was launched by BJD on March 5, 2015 to mark the 99th birth anniversary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik, has now truly turned a “People’s Movement in Odisha.
Under the initiative, the BJD is making efforts to raise awareness among the people and remove the wrong notions about blood donation.
