New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat resigned from his post on Friday, less than four months after he took oath.
Rawat submitted his resignation to Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya on late Friday night.
“Given the constitutional crisis, I felt it was right for me to resign. Bypolls could not be held because of COVID-19,” he said.
Rawat has become the Chief Minister with the shortest tenure in Uttarakhand’s political history with 115 days.
BJP MLAs in Uttarakhand will meet today to select a new leader, according to reports.
