Malkanagiri: People of Chitrakonda and the nearby areas have a reason to cheer as they don’t have to go to Malkanagiri to avail emergency health services. The successful operation and delivery of a child in the Sub-Divisional Hospital proves that things are really changing and it is now visible on the ground. The transformation mantra given by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is reaching the rural areas and has started showing results.
Doctors at the Chitrakonda Hospital successfully operated upon Manik Sisa of Anjiriaguda village who had gone to the Hospital for Delivery. As Manik required Caesarean Section surgery immediately without any delay, Dr. Dipak Kumar Nayak took the challenge himself and operated upon. The mother and the new born baby are now safe. According to Hari Sisa, husband of Manik Sisa, “we are very happy that the doctor performed the operation at the Chitrakonda Hospital itself without referring to Malkanagiri. Now the mother and child are doing well.” According to Dr Dipak Kumar Nayak, “the operation was successful because of the team effort by all the staff. They took it as a challenge and made it happen. We will try to continue the efforts further. This is going to help the thousands of people who face difficulties in going to Malkanagiri and other urban areas.
Although the 5-T Initiative is being implemented in District Headquarter Hospitals, other hospitals are also changing in terms of service delivery and people oriented efforts.
Improved health facilities at the Chitrakonda Hospital helped timely intervention by the doctors and the operation and saving of two precious lives. The breakthrough at the hospital can be attributed to the infrastructure development carried out by the government and the positive attitude of the healthcare professionals.
The successful operation has brought cheers in the area. People are happy that now they don’t have to go to Malkanagiri Hospital for operations which is more than 60 kilometers away. It is the outcome of the improving healthcare scenario in rural areas. The state government has been focusing on infrastructure development in rural areas. While funds are being sanctioned for creating new infra, vacant positions are also being filled on a war footing. The change is inevitable as the government is specifically focusing on the development of health infrastructure in rural areas. With free healthcare along with medicines and diagnosis at the government hospitals, a positive change is being brought in the lives of millions of people. For a place like Chitrakonda, today’s success is the beginning and there are many feats to be achieved in the near future.
