Bhubaneswar: Taking yet another major transformational initiative, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched the State Animal Helpline, Tele Veterinary Services and Fisheries & Animal Resources Mapping System.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that every citizen should be sensitive to the needs of stray and abandoned animals and provide their services.
The State Animal Helpline with a toll-free number ‘1962’ will be functional 24×7 and it would help animals to receive medical care in case of emergency.
The Tele Veterinary Services will significantly contribute in keeping the animal resources of the State in healthy. It would eventually support the farmers. People can avail the service by dialing 1962 or 155333 toll free numbers.
The Fisheries and Animal Resource Mapping, launched as part of the 5-T Initiative, will enable geo-tagging and mapping of all fishing and farming units in the State and made available on the WEB-GIS platform.
Through this Web-GIS platform, people can get information on all the assets created in beneficiary-oriented schemes under Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Department through satellite images by remote sensing.
On the occasion, the State Government has signed an MoU with BAIF Institute for the recruitment of 1,500 artificial insemination technicians to provide basic animal health care services.
