Twelve Lawyers Arrested In Sambalpur For Vandalising District Court Premises

Sambalpur: Acting tough on the protesting lawyers who had vandalized the District Judge’s chamber yesterday in Sambalpur, the Police has arrested twelve advocates yesterday night. Nine of them have been forwarded to Jail after rejection of their bails. The Sambaplpur Police is investigating the incident and took the action after examining the CCTV footage. The District administration has also imposed Section 144 near the Court area in order to avoid any untoward happening today.

The lawyers had vandalized the Court premises while protesting over the demand for setting up off a Permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court in Sambalpur. Taking into account the vandalism, the Supreme Court had yesterday ordered the Odisha government and State Police to take strong action against the protesting lawyers.
