Sambalpur: The Hirakud dam authorities have opened two more gates of the reservoir to release the excess water.
The decision was taken considering the incessant rain in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi.
With this, the excess water is being discharged through 24 gates of the dam.
As per the dam authorities, 16 gates were opened on the left side while water is being released through eight gates on the right side.
