New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday demanded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country, for Biju Janata Dal President and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Union Minister also sought the Bharat Ratna for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Speaking at a program at Begusarai, his Lok Sabha constituency, Singh said that India’s highest civilian award should be conferred upon Naveen Patnaik and Nitish Kumar.
Naveen Patnaik served Odisha for so many years. He has made significant contributions for the development of Odisha.
He deserves the highest honour, like Bharat Ratna, the Union Minister said.
The Union Minister also praised Nitish Kumar’s transformative impact on Bihar’s infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Union Minister’s demand may disappoint the Odisha BJP leaders.
