Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi Courts Controversy: Threatens Opposition Leader ‘Keep Quiet or ED May Arrive At Your Home’

New Delhi: Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi yesterday courted a major controversy while speaking in the Parliament on the Delhi Ordinance Bill. During her speech in the Lok Sabha, she warned an opposition leader saying “keep quiet, or the ED may arrive at your home”. She made the statement when the opposition leader tried to disturb her during her speech. The Opposition parties have slammed her remark and said that it was an open threat to them.

She was heard saying “Ek minute, ek minute. Shaant raho, tumhare ghar na ED aa jaaye”. Her statement in the Lok Sabha has attracted criticism from the opposition leaders who have said that this is nothing but direct threat of the BJP to the Members of Parliament. NCP Spokesperson Clyde Crasto slammed Lekhi and said her remark proves the Opposition’s allegations that the government is misusing central agencies.

Reacting to Lekhi’s statement in the Parliament, Saket Gokhale, TMC Spokesperson said that is very shocking as the ministers are now openly threatening to use the ED against Opposition leaders. He tweeted “ “Today, shockingly, Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi threatened the Opposition in Parliament and said: ‘Keep quiet or ED may arrive at your home’. BJP Ministers now openly threaten to use the ED against the Opposition just for speaking in Parliament. The vendetta isn’t even hidden anymore,”.
