New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against suspended BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and 10 others on murder charges in connection with the accident of Unnao rape survivor.
The CBI took over the investigation in the accident case of Unnao rape survivor from Uttar Pradesh and re-registered the FIR, media reports stated.
The agency has also registered a case against 20 unknown persons under charges of criminal conspiracy, murder, attempt to murder and criminal intimidation.
The Centre on Tuesday handed over the probe to the CBI on the recommendation of the Uttar Pradesh government which had come under severe criticism for failing to provide security to the girl who has alleged that the BJP MLA had raped her.
Notably, the rape survivor along with her family and lawyer were travelling in a car when they were hit by an overspeeding truck in Rae Bareli on Sunday.
While two family members of the victim died on the spot, the rape survivor and her advocate sustained critical injuries. They were on ventilator support at the King George’s Medical University trauma centre in Lucknow, as per media reports.
Acting on the complaint by the victim’s family member, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday filed a murder case against Sengar and nine others.
