Bhubaneswar: Former Director-General, International Solar Alliance Upendra Tripathy has been elected as Chairman of Odi Art Centre, located at Barkul in Chilika.
In the virtual Annual General Body Meeting, the Society for Development of Rural literature has elected Upendra Tripathy, former Director-General, International Solar Alliance as Chairman of its flagship art complex, Odi Art Centre, located at Barkul in Chilika.
As a civil servant of Karnataka cadre, Tripathy had a distinguished record of service and won the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration.
The Odi Art centre was dedicated to the nation in 2017 by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Besides the Society has elected Prof. K. K. Basa, the Vice Chancellor of Shriram Chandra Bhanj University to head the Purvasha Folk & Tribal Art Museum.
Nestling on the banks of Chilika Lake, the Odi Art Centre is developed by ‘Society for Development of Rural Literature’, a registered, non-profit, cultural Society. The centre showcases the rich traditions of folk and tribal arts of India.
Tripathy in his assumption speech said that the Centre will make effort to engage with ten foreign Museums so that the rich unexplored folk heritage of Odisha will be popularised outside India. He will be working with the government and other cultural organisations of India to preserve the dying art forms of the country.
