Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today lauded the contributions made by veterans and ex-servicemen to the society.
Addressing the 120 Infantry Battalion on the occasion of Fourth Veterans Day and Ex-servicemen Rally, the Chief Minister said, “The Veteran community continue to extend their service to society both in individual as well as organisational capacities which is commendable. You are a repository of highly skilled people in diverse fields, which the Government is determined to make use of”.
Naveen conveyed his best wishes to this extra ordinary community which has rendered selfless service to the Nation at the prime of their age.
All through their glorious period of service, they made many sacrifices for ensuring Nation’s sovereignty and integrity, the CM said.
Naveen also appealed the Veterans to take advantage of various schemes being offered by the Government of Odisha to be able to contribute to society as well as their own lives better.
The CM said, “The Government of Odisha is committed for the welfare of the Ex-Servicemen, and make use of their rich potential in the service of the Nation”.
On this occasion, the CM also commend the contributions of 120 Infantry Battalion for the extra ordinary relief work done in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani.
At the outset Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the martyrs memorial.
The CM also felicitated widows of veterans on this occasion.
The Veterans Day and Ex-servicemen Rally has been dedicated to Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Commander in Chief of Amed Forces of Independent India, who is a guiding beacon for serving as well as Veteran soldiers.
