Chennai: South Indian actor Vijay Sethupathi is all set to play the role of Sri Lankan off-spinner Muthiah Muralitharan in his biopic. The film is expected to be titled 800 — the idea comes from the fact the Muralitharan is the first and only bowler to have 800 tests wickets. The film is jointly produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Dar Motion Pictures.
Directed by MS Sripathy, this film is based on the life and struggle of cricketing legend Muthiah Muralidaran. The film will be made in Tamil and released in several languages across the world.
In an interview, Vijay Sethupathi said, “I am happy to be associated with the Muttiah Muralitharan biopic. He is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin and someone who has made his mark across the world.”
