Berhampur: The Ganjam police has taken the issue of violation of social distancing and lockdown norms during a marriage party in Gopalpur seriously and has started taking action.
Police today arrested at least five persons involved in organizing the marriage function and disobeying guidelines issued by the government to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. The groom has also been arrested in the case.
While a case has been registered against the bride and groom parties in the Gopalpur Police station, the vehicles used during the function have been seized.
With respect to the case where a marriage procession was organized violating the COVID guidelines total 5 persons including the groom have been arrested and two vehicles have been seized. (1/2)

Hotel Mayfair Gopalpur, where the marriage party was organised has been sealed for 7 days for violation of social distancing for arrangement of marriage. Also, both the bride and groom parties have been fined fifty thousand rupees for violation of social distancing norms.
“We won’t tolerate these type of violations. We again request all to follow social distancing norms & don’t put your life in risk in corona scenario”, said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
