Kendrapara: The voting for Patkura Assembly constituency in Odisha began at 7 AM today.
Polling is underway across 309 polling booths.As many as 2, 44,747 voters including 1,17,306 women will decide the fate of 10 candidates, who are in the poll fray.
Adequate security arrangements have been made in order to ensure smooth conduct of the election.
Five Magistrates, four companies of CRPF and policemen have been deployed in Patkura to ensure a free and fair election.
The district administration has identified 138 booths as sensitive in the constituency.
Election to the Patkura assembly seat was postponed twice, the first due to death of 82-year-old BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla and then due to cyclone Fani.
BJD candidate Sabitri Agrawalla, wife of former Minister Bed Prakash Agarwalla, BJP’s Bijay Mohapatra, Jayanta Mohanty of Congress are the prominent candidates in the fray.
