Bhubaneswar: After giving Collector’s power to Sarpanches to combat COVID-19, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday will talk to functionaries of 6798 Gram Panchayats of the State, informed Odisha Govt’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi here today.
It is to be noted that one third of total positive COVID-19 cases have linked to West Bengal. Hence, the common question now is why all the state boarders are not sealed so far completely. Since, it is extremely difficult for the police and other Government departments due to difficult terrain and other things, now the responsibility of Gram Panchayats becomes paramount because they can be expected to do something regarding entry of persons from other states, Bagchi said.
On this context, the Chief Minister will talk to 6798 Gram Panchayat functionaries of the state through video conferencing on Wednesday, Bagchi added.
