Bhubaneswar: The members of Sikh community feel very safe and secure in Odisha and consider the State as their home, said Orissa Sikh Pratinidhi Board (OSPB).
Strongly condemning the assault on Parbindar Pal Singh by some local goons over a dispute relating to parking of a car on January 14, the Board said that it was purely sporadic incident and nothing more than that.
“It is unfortunate that some people with vested interest are trying to connect this incident with the Mangu Matth Puri and giving it a different color”, the OSPB said.
“We also very strongly condemn such attempt to take advantage of an unfortunate incident for ulterior purpose”, it said.
“The State of Odisha has always stood by us and we request everyone not to believe in any motivated misrepresentation of the incident & maintain peace & harmony”, the board urged.
“We are satisfied with police action in the incident. The commissioner of Police has assured to submit the charge sheet within 3 days for the accused persons to stand trial in the court of law. He has also assured us that police will make a prayer for fast tracking of the trail. We have full faith in the country’s judicial process”, the OSPB said in a statement.
Local MLA Ananta Narayan Jena along with some high ranking police officials have visited the victim’s residence and have assured him full support and protection. They have conveyed that even the Chief Minister has shown his concern in this matter and assured all help to the family.
Notably, an FIR has been filed in Laxmisagar P.S and in this regard the police has dismissed the PCR I/C for failing to prevent the attack. All the 3 accused have been arrested and forwarded to court.
