Web Channel Journalist Arrested For Duping 90 Youth

Berhampur: The Jagannath Prasad Police in Ganjam District has arrested a Web Channel Journalist for duping more than 90 gullible youth promising them for jobs in Gopalpur Port.

Banshidhara Patnaik of Sarakumpa village collected more than 27 lakh rupees from more than 90 people promising them jobs in Gopalpur Port. He was arrested after a resident of Visakhapatnam M Nanibabu filed a complaint with the police. This is the third cheating case in Gnajam District to surface after the Tata Motors and Tech Mahindra job scams.

The case trail goes back to 2018 when Banshidhara was working in Visakhapatnam Port area where he came in contact with some workers working in the port and introduced himself as a supervisor of Gopalpur Port. He also made false statements saying he own two ships in Gopalpur. He promised to give work with high salaries there.

He collected money from about 90 persons and gave forged documents. After some days he vanished from Visakhapatnam and came back to Jagannath Prasad and opened a web channel where he introduced himself as a journalist. He spent the illegally collected money in hotels and luxury living. Nani Babu and four others came to Ganjam in search of Banshidhar and found him roaming in Jagannathprasad.
