Balangir: The Balangir district administration has imposed weekend shutdown for the month of July.
This has been informed by Balangir Collector Arindam Dakua.
As a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, the entire district will be shut down on Saturdays and Sundays this month, the Collector said.
All non-essential shops and business establishments will remain closed and the movement of the people will be strictly prohibited during the shutdown.
Balangir district has reported so far 194 cases of COVID-19, of which 44 cases are active, according to the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Notably, the weekend shutdown is being enforced in 10 districts – Ganjam, Gajapati, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda – till July 31.
